About Me

I build platforms that multiply human potential.

Throughout my career, I've focused on a singular mission: creating environments where engineers can achieve dramatically more than they thought possible. Whether it's enabling doctors to build their own healthcare apps, helping hardware engineers collaborate in real-time, or building simulation platforms for autonomous systems, I've consistently worked at the intersection of human capability and technical innovation.

What Drives Me

I believe the solutions to many of our global challenges already exist in someone's mind – they just lack the tools and infrastructure to bring them to life. That's why I focus on building platforms and teams that multiply impact. When you make it easy for people to do the right thing and hard to do the wrong thing, innovation flourishes.

My Journey

My path in technology is driven by a fascination with complex systems and a desire to make them more accessible. At DHBW Ravensburg in Germany, I led the Aerospace Laboratory shortly after graduation, where I established a drone research program that grew from 40 passionate students into partnerships with the Red Cross and Airbus. This early experience showed me how providing the right tools and environment can multiply people's ability to innovate.

Working at Apple's Special Projects Group deepened this understanding. Leading platform development across the autonomous vehicle stack, I brought together ML researchers, hardware engineers, and software teams in new ways. By replacing complex legacy systems with intuitive, scalable solutions, we enabled diverse technical teams to collaborate more effectively on everything from ML models to vehicle dynamics. This experience reinforced my belief in the power of well-designed platforms to accelerate innovation across technical domains.

At Cruise, I further refined this approach while enhancing the simulation-replay infrastructure for self-driving vehicles. Working closely with QA and Vehicle Safety teams, I built systems that connected real-world performance data with simulation outcomes, giving engineers deeper insights into how their changes affected vehicle behavior and safety. This work showed me how the right tools can not only accelerate development but also maintain rigorous safety standards in complex systems.

These experiences prepared me for my role as CTO and co-founder of Flux, where I built both a platform and a culture of belonging. What started as a solution to our own challenges in designing solar power grids evolved into a real-time collaborative platform used by engineers at major technology companies. More than just building technology, I focused on creating an environment where engineers could thrive. We attracted world-class talent globally by fostering a culture of ownership and purpose, where every team member felt empowered to make meaningful contributions. The platform's success was a direct result of this culture – our engineers weren't just building features, they were solving problems they deeply understood and cared about.

Most recently at Forward Health, I've had the opportunity to create lasting impact across multiple dimensions. I led the transformation of our developer platform, creating tools that empowered doctors and product managers to build healthcare apps five times faster than before. But beyond the technical achievements, I focused on transforming how teams worked together. By rebuilding the infrastructure team's culture and processes from first principles while maintaining pragmatism, we turned an underperforming unit into one of the company's most effective teams.

Working as a combination of technical leader and cultural catalyst, I led through example on critical initiatives while mentoring teams across the organization. This balanced approach – solving immediate technical challenges while teaching teams how to tackle future problems – created a multiplier effect. Engineers became more confident in taking ownership, cross-team collaboration improved, and the organization developed a more sustainable approach to solving complex technical challenges. The result wasn't just better tools or infrastructure, but a more resilient engineering culture capable of adapting to changing requirements and situations.

Throughout each role, I've found that my natural ability lies in creating environments where technical innovation and human potential amplify each other. Whether it's building platforms, transforming teams, or fostering cultures of continuous improvement, I focus on making complex systems more accessible while bringing people together around shared missions.

Technical Perspective

What sets me apart is my ability to bridge different technical domains while maintaining a systems-level perspective. I've worked effectively with teams across the technical spectrum – from ML researchers optimizing autonomous algorithms to hardware engineers simulating physical systems, from data scientists building analysis pipelines to product teams creating user experiences. This versatility allows me to create platforms that truly serve diverse technical users while maintaining coherence and scalability.

Beyond Technology

Outside of work, I co-lead a 70 member sustainability-focused Burning Man camp, where I designed and open-sourced a solar power grid system that has been adopted by multiple other camps. This experience in building sustainable communities and systems directly influences my approach to creating lasting technical solutions.

Current Focus

Today, I'm passionate about creating platforms and infrastructures that enable teams to innovate faster and more reliably. I'm particularly interested in projects that make powerful tools more accessible, whether that's through improved developer platforms, simulation systems, or collaborative environments. I believe we're at a crucial point where the right platforms can dramatically accelerate technical progress while maintaining the reliability and safety we need.

Let's Connect

I'm always interested in connecting with others who are passionate about building platforms and tools that multiply human potential. Whether you're working on developer productivity, collaborative systems, or mission-driven technical challenges, I'd love to hear from you. I'm an active member of the Hangar Developer Experience community, where technical leaders exchange ideas about improving developer productivity and building better platforms. You can find me at events around developer experience and company culture, builder meetups, or at the usual community space in downtown San Francisco.
